The chateau was initially constructed as a Gothic fortress, then remodeled with Renaissance modifications, and finally repaired after damages in Baroque style. Famous as the residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria during his assassination, the so called bullet that triggered World War One is exhibited in the castle's gallery. (Frah-nz) The castle is open to the public and displays Franz Ferdinand's private quarters, a widespread collection of medieval arms and weaponry, and a shooting hall. Visitors can tour the Rose Garden and a greenhouse which showcase statues from the Italian Renaissance era.
